Individualised Living Options (ILO) - Exploration and Design

The NDIS now offers flexible, personalised home and living support packages to individuals with low to moderate support needs through the Independent Living Options (ILO) program. This allows you to live in your own home, with support from a mix of paid and unpaid support workers, including your family and friends. ILO offers a variety of housing and support options, from sharing a home to living with a host family or on your own.

With ILO, you can create a home that meets your specific needs and goals for whole of life planning, beyond just accommodation. Meliora Life provides expert support to help you make the most of the ILO program. ILO is different from other Home and Living supports as it does not include funding for where you live or home modifications, nor does it include support for activities outside your home.

Meliora Life provides ILO - Exploration and Design to our valued clients Australia-wide.

How can Meliora Life help me access ILO?

Meliora Life Support Coordinators will support you to explore different options, this could look like; transitioning from living with family to a home of your own or sharing a home with friends or housemates in a Supported Independent Living (SIL) house, private rental, or government housing.

At Meliora Life, our experienced and friendly Support Coordinators will assist you to explore and design your ILO by:

  • Identifying your specific needs and goals, including your living preferences, personal care needs, and social support requirements.

  • Developing a plan based on your needs and goals taking into account factors such as your funding, accessibility requirements, cultural considerations, and any additional support services that may be needed.

  • Researching available options that match your individual requirements

  • Connecting you with providers ensuring your needs are being met and that the living arrangements are suitable.

  • Coordinating the transition to the new living arrangement, including organising any necessary equipment or modifications, coordinating with the host and support workers, and ensuring that the person is comfortable in their new home.

  • Ongoing support to ensure you are receiving the appropriate support services.
